The orthopedic surgeons at Agility Orthopedics use Ultrasound for diagnostic purposes and to improve injection accuracy. The use of ultrasound has been common in other medical specialties for many years, but is relatively new to the field of orthopedics. With ultrasound, our orthopedic surgeons can see if critical anatomical structures are in place without the costly delays associated with MRI’s; we are able to provide our patients with a timely diagnosis and avoid the need for our patients to take extra days off for additional advanced imaging.
Another significant benefit of ultrasound to our patients is using it to improve the accuracy of our injections. With ultrasound, your orthopedic surgeon is able to see the needle go to exactly where it needs to be. The effectiveness of each injection is improved because the medication is located properly within the joint space it is intended for.
Agility Orthopedics is proud to be one of only 5 practices in the state of Massachusetts that is accredited through the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. This accreditation process requires each provider to have 40 hours of continuing education specifically related to the use of ultrasound.
We look forward to the opportunity to assist you in the recovery of your orthopedic condition. With tools like ultrasound, that complicated job just got a little bit easier.
